About Potter's Field Vineyard
Located just south of Dorchester, Nebraska, the original Potter family homestead is thriving again. After more than 125 years serving as farm land for the Potter family, the land is being reclaimed from tenants, and has become Potter's Field Vineyard and Potter Sod Farm.
With two acres of vineyard thriving in the Southeastern Nebraska sun (and being fertilzed by years of livestock poop), this year will be the first production year for our grapes. Frontenac and Marquette will be blended to create a unique red wine for the Pour House. Working with vintner Nick Ryan, we look forward to bringing our first label to the Pour House Tasting Room. In 2011, we'll be producing a white wine, using our Edelweiss.
Just north of the vines, we have planted red raspberries and black berries, and one day we hope to dabble in fruit wine as well.
In keeping with the mantra of family, watch for some forthcoming catchy vintage names that are reflective of ancestors and relatives. Betty white was named in honor of my mother, Betty Bosak Potter, who passed away in 2007. I know that mom would be proud and excited about all the great things going on out in Potter's Field, at the sod farm, and in the Pour House. Here's to you, Mom!
